Silicon Valley still produces an outsized amount of new startups compared to many other regions. On top of this, many of them have the talent, network, and funding to hit their milestone and bring large returns to their investors. However, as an outside investor, it’s often hard to get access to those companies, and often hiring a local analyst is just not enough. We will use this talk to discuss with other Silicon Valley investors how to start meeting the most promising companies.

Unlike new equity raised by a company (think Series A, B, C...), secondaries are when an investor purchases equity from an existing stakeholder (early investor, founder, employee). There is no marketplace for this, so transactions take place privately between a buyer and seller with approval by the company. In this chat, we’ll talk about where to source secondary supply, structures, pitfalls/risks, company approvals, secondary pricing/opportunities, and how to think about secondaries vs other asset classes in this market.

Arthur Chua is the CEO of Goldbell Group, the Singaporean family business started by his father and grandfather. Arthur drives Goldbell’s vision to be at the forefront of mobility and innovation by working closely with regional go-to-market partners. He also leads Goldbell's venture build arm, and venture fund – what he refers to as the creation of unfair advantages, outsized returns, through a reduced risk strategy.

Min Teo is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Ethereal Ventures, a leading crypto venture firm founded by Min and Joseph Lubin. Prior to Ethereal, Min led venture investments at ConsenSys, previously built a fintech company in the UK and started her career in private equity.
Gabby Dizon is a game industry veteran with over 20 years of experience. He co-founded Yield Guild Games (YGG), the world’s first and biggest web3 gaming guild where players can enrich themselves as they find their community, discover games and level up together.
Gabby is also a founding board member of the Blockchain Game Alliance. Gabby’s mission is to onboard millions of gamers so they can find opportunities in the digital world. He believes that the future of work is in the open Metaverse.
Sonny Vu runs Alabaster, a family office that invests in founders building "hardtech" companies that will have a positive, planet-level impact. He is an investor, advisor, and/or director in 47 early stage companies (pre-seed to Series A).
Sonny previously co-founded 5 companies, including Misfit, which was acquired by Fossil for $260m. Sonny raised $257m in funding across 22 rounds for companies he's founded. Before startups, he worked at Microsoft Research in NLP under Kai-Fu Lee, worked on a PhD in linguistics at MIT under Noam Chomsky and Ken Hale, and studied math at UIUC.

Lake's impressive professional background include key positions at Apple, Alibaba, Yahoo! and Overture. Lake has served on the boards of various private tech companies in the fields of autonomous driving, neurotech, and bioinformatics.
She is the inventor of 5 U.S. patents in search algorithms, recommendation algorithms, and text tokenization.
Milan is a serial entrepreneur and early stage investor with a focus of 0 to 1 growth. He is the co-CEO and founder of NonPublic - an exclusive platform for curated deal flow, syndication mechanics and liquidity. Milan also leads Showheroes APAC, after the acquisition of iVS by Showheroes Group in April 2023. Milan is also a co-founder of ascendangels.com, a partner of early stage SEA fund orvel.vc.

Eric Bahn is a Co-Founder and General Partner at Hustle Fund, an early-stage venture capital firm based in San Francisco. Hustle Fund invests in software startups at the pre-seed and seed stages, backing founders who exhibit great execution and high velocity (aka, hustle).

Camp Hustle Asia is an in-person experience. If you’re unable to make the trip to join us in person, we hope you’ll consider coming next year!
